Erdeven

Erdeven ( Breton: An Ardeven ) is a commune ( as at 1 January 2011) with 3496 inhabitants in the Morbihan department in Brittany region.

Geography

The municipality is bordered to the northwest by the municipality Étel, on the north by Belz and Locoal- Mendon, on the east by Ploemel and Carnac, on the southeast by Plouharnel and on the southwest by the Atlantic coast and the mouth of the river Étel.

Culture and sights

Erdeven is now mainly a tourist embossed village. Attractions of the place are a seven- kilometer-long sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean at the district Kerhillio ( plage de Kerhillio ), as well as numerous prehistoric sites of megalithic culture with dolmens, menhirs and alignments (eg alignments of Kerzerho ). The rows of stones lying in the municipality of Erdeven form the western foothills of the huge investment of Carnac.

Traffic

Erdeven is situated on the D781, which connects the coastal towns of Port Louis in the northwest to Locmariaquer in the southeast.

The nearest train station with intercity transport connection is located in Auray, closest airport is Lorient Bretagne Sud. Bus service ( Monday to Saturday ) exist to Auray, Carnac - La Trinité- sur -Mer, Lorient and Port Louis.
