The European Route 45 ( shortcut: E 45 ) is a European route, extending from north to south in particular through North, Central and Southern Europe. It begins in Karesuvanto in northwestern Finland directly on the Swedish border ( Karesuando ) and ends in Gela on the south coast of Sicily in Italy. E 45 has a length of about 4920 km.

Section Modena - Bologna

The sections on Sicily - A 18
The fully -built stretch Messina-Catania the A 18 is a toll road. The next stretch to Augusta carries the provisional designation Nuova Strada Statale 339 and is 25.2 km long. It is followed by a 24 km long section as a state road SS 114 to Syracuse. The section of Siracusa - Gela is already open to traffic between Syracuse and rosolini (part of Syracuse) over a length of 41.5 km. Its use is still free. Feeders: The A 20 motorway leads westward from Messina in the regional capital Palermo. It is 181 km long and partial toll road. A section of about 20 km in length, which ran right past on the outskirts of Messina can be traveled for free.
From Catania also the A 19 extends westward towards Palermo.
