Geography

Location

Faraba Banta, in the West Coast region, district, Kombo East, located about 1.5 kilometers north of the South Bank Road, The Gambia 's main highway. Brikama, the nearest large town lies about 17 kilometers to the west.

In about five kilometers away lies south of the Finto Manereg Forest Park.

Flora and Fauna

The place with the surrounding rice fields and the nearby Pirang Bolong is the goal of many bird lovers who want to watch the abundant birdlife. For example, the gold crown Strangler ( Laniarius barbarus ), the Schuppenkopfrötel ( Cossypha albicapilla ), the oriole warbler ( Hypergerus atriceps ) and Africa (Turdus Pelios ) were seen here. Also the Weißaugendrossling ( Turdoides reinwardtii ), nose Streif honey guide ( Indicator minor minor ), the Yellow Fronted Barbet ( Pogoniulus chrysoconus ) were seen here.

Culture

In Faraba Banta a sacred grove as a place of worship under the name Jibanding Kolong is known.

Education

The government of The Gambia has provided that this is a new campus of the University of The Gambia is to be built at Faraba Banta.
