Brikama is the second largest city in the West African state of Gambia and the capital of the administrative region of West Coast.

According to a calculation for 2013 there live about 84 608 inhabitants, the result of the last published census ( census ) of 1993 amounted to 42 480.

Geography

Brikama is located on the main southern highway, the South Bank Road, which begins in Brikama and crosses the country to Basse Santa Su ( about 360 km). It is the continuation of the Brikama Highway, which ends in Brikama. This road comes from the north of the capital, Banjul (approx. 36 km) over Serekunda (approx. 21 km) and leads to the Banjul International Airport, about six kilometers from Brikama, over.

To distinguish the much smaller place Brikama Ba, in the Central River Region, Brikama Brikama is often called combo, which the former kingdom combo by reference, which was formerly here in today's West Coast region.

Culture and sights

Brikama is known for wood carvings, which are sold on the market. The town is also the center of the musical culture of Gambia.

In Brikama a sacred tree as a place of worship under the name Santanba is known.

In Brikama, the first independent power Gambia operates the CHP in Brikama.

In Brikama, the Gambia College is located.
