Fauquier County, Virginia

Fauquier County is a county located in the state of Virginia in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 55 139 inhabitants and a population density of 33 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Warrenton.

Geography

Fauquier County is located north-northeast of the geographic center of Virginia, is in the north and east, both located 35 km away from Maryland and covers an area of 1687 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford County, Culpeper County, Rappahannock County, Warren County and Clarke County.

History

Made it was in 1759 from parts of Prince William County. It was named after Francis Fauquier, a Lieutenant Governor of Virginia at that time.
