FC Metalurh Zaporizhya

The FK Metalurh Zaporozhye (Ukrainian ФК Металург Запоріжжя, Russian Металлург Запорожье, Metallurg Zaporozhye ) is a Ukrainian football club based in the industrial center of Zaporizhia.

History

The club was founded in 1935 as a steel Zaporizhia and received its present name in 1950.

1951 and 1952 the club won the cup final of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, respectively.

With the independence of Ukraine was the establishment of an independent league, the Wyschtscha Liha. This Metalurh Zaporizhia was one of the founding members and played until 2011 class. In 2002, the club finished fourth and first participated in the European Cup, but failed in the first round at Leeds United. The following year ended Metalurh the season though but as a table next to last on the relegation zone, due to the bankruptcy of PFK Olexandrija the club remained in the league. In the 2010/11 season the team finished in 16th and last place, an increase for the first time in its history in the second-class Perscha Liha from. After only one year in the second division Metalurh Zaporizhia reached the second place and got back on the Premjer - Liha from which the club was relegated as Table immediately. Due to the 16th and last table space in the season 2012/13 Metalurh Zaporizhia increased after only one year of athletic excellence from the Perscha Liha. Since the seventh- placed Krywbas Krivoy Rog withdrew because of financial difficulties from the Premjer - Liha and runners- Perscha Liha Stal has been Alchevsk for the top flight not approved, the Metalurh Zaporizhia in the season 2013/14 in the Premjer - Liha occurs at.

The greatest success of recent club history, 2006 was the achievement of the national cup final, which the club but lost against Dynamo Kiev 0:1. This qualified Metalurh for the European Cup, Panathinaikos Athens sat, however, after a 1-1 draw in Athens 1-0 in Ukraine.
