FC Stahl Brandenburg

The FC Stahl Brandenburg is a football club from Brandenburg an der Havel. Its home ground is the Municipal Stadium on Quenz.

History

The club was formed from the Sports Association was founded as BSG Stahl Brandenburg on 20 November 1950. In 1990 they separated from the BSG and traded from now on as BSV Stahl Brandenburg. Three years later came the " steel " from the club name and henceforth it was only BSV Brandenburg. After the bankruptcy in 1998 of the ( successor ) FC was founded Stahl Brandenburg.

Sports development

The team played until 1955 in the fourth-class district class. After the dissolution of BSG unit Brandenburg steel unit took place in the district league, 1958 succeeded for the first time, the rise in the DDR II league. Here, however, held to only one year. In 1970 after the rise to DDR -Liga, now you could keep yourself and determined the level in the league a long time with. As early as 1973 it was runner-up. 1983 succeeded the first season victory, but still it failed in the promotion round to DDR Oberliga. The jump in the top flight succeeded a year later, in 1984. Greatest success as you can certainly call the participation in European competition ( UEFA Cup) in fifth -placed the DDR Oberliga the previous season in 1986/87.

After the turn you played one season in the 2nd Bundesliga Nord, but rose again. It was followed by two years in the league, participating in the German Amateur Championship 1993 and qualified for the Regional League West for 1994/95 season, but which in turn meant only a short spell. Because after a year of decline followed in the league. Again, you had to leave the league and played since 1996/ 97 in the fifth division Brandenburg after one year. The years in the Fünftklassigkeit in 1999 with the rise of the Oberliga South local rivals BSC 05 even sadder, it was only the number 2 in the city. 2002 should merge both clubs, but due to large Fanproteste and thereby withdrawn sponsors did not materialize this act. From 2004 /05 the title of number one you picked up back in the city by standing at the end of the season before the relegated from the Oberliga South BSC 05. A year later they dismounted in the national league and met old companions such as Wittenberg, Velten, Hennig village or Finow, but also to " no-names " as the Prignitzer cuckoo Kickers or FSV Bernau. After three years in the national league FC Steel succeeded on 27 June 2009 by a 6-2 home win ( first leg 1-0) against RSV Waltersdorf 09 (National League South ) in an ascent Relegation to rise again in the Brandenburg- League.

In May 2007, efforts of local politicians have known that from the FC steel and local rivals BSC South 05 an entirely new club is to emerge. Members of FC steel gave the newly elected board in July 2007, but the order to get the FC steel as an independent club. In November 2007, the Town Council agreed to a debt relief plan submitted by the Board, so that the club is currently not acutely threatened in its existence.
