History

FCM Bacau was founded in 1950 as Dinamo Bacau. In the season 1956 Dinamo played its first match in Divizia A, the top division in Romania, but rose immediately off again. Received a boost Dinamo, as in 1958 the Divizia A team of Dinamo Cluj (formerly Unirea Tricolor Bucharest ) was delegated to Bacau. This Dinamo was top notch again. In the season 1958/59 to Dinamo could first place among the top five teams and stayed at this level, before they descended into the 1962/ 63 in the Divizia B.

After the re-emergence in 1967 Dinamo could immediately build on past successes and show went straight to number 6. After 5th place in the 1968/69 season to Dinamo qualified first for the Fairs Cup. Here, the team reached in the season 1969/70 after wins against FC Floriana, Skeid Oslo and FC Kilmarnock surprisingly the quarter-finals, where they, however, significantly eliminated by eventual winners Arsenal.

In 1970 the club changed its name to Sport Club Bacau. In the 1972/73 season the SC reached the 4th place his best finish in the history of Divizia A, but increased in the following season from again. After the immediate resurgence of SC played for many years in the middle of the Divizia A and came in only a few years close to the relegation zone.

After the end of communism in Romania, the club changed its name in 1990 in FC Bacau. With the achievement of the Romanian Cup Finals against Universitatea Craiova in 1991, the FC achieved his greatest national success. Since Craiova Romanian champions in the same year, the FC qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup, but dropped out after two significant defeats against eventual champions Werder Bremen already in the 1st round.

1992 brought a break in the football from Bacau: the football department dissolved under the name FC Selena Bacau and under the leadership of businessman Dumitru Sechelariu from the club and local rivals Aripile Founded in 1977, Victoria Bacau changed its name in Aerostar Bacau.

In the 1992/93 season Selena dismounted from the Divizia A. After the rise in 1995 the name was changed again, this time in AS Bacau. In 1997 there were up to today last name change and the club went out of its present name FCM Bacau. The 2000/01 season ended FCM again the relegation zone and was also subsequently inferior Farul Constanta in the relegation games, but bought the promoted FC Baia Mare whose place in Divizia A from. In the following years, FCM has always played against relegation. In the season 2005/ 06 this finally could no longer be prevented when the team finished last by a wide margin and descent into League II. On November 3, 2007 Costel Orac replaced the previous head coach Cristian Popovici. In seven league games but Orac could pick just one win and was then replaced 16 March 2008 by his predecessor. After the first round of the 2008/09 season was 11 January 2009 Gheorghe Poenaru, who had been coach of 2008 Aerostar Bacau to October, as the successor of Cristian Popovici, who left the club in the FC Botosani.

2010, the previous low point in their history was achieved: by the fluctuating performance of the team during the second league season 2009/10 and after disputes with local authorities reduced Dumitru Sechelariu, the longtime patron of the Association and from 1996 to 2004 as a representative of the Partidul Social Democrat mayor significantly from Bacau, its financial commitment. Since Sechelariu refused to give up his shares in the club without any negotiations in favor of the City Council, it was mid-March 2010 to reach agreement. As a result, the club had its home match from March 20, 2010 to cancel against Steaua Bucharest II, as it has not come up for the cost of the event. In order to maintain the operation of gambling until the end of the season, more public funds were approved subsequently by the Mayor's Office. Nevertheless, from said Relu Damian, the president of the association, on June 4, 2010, the home game that should be played the next day as part of the penultimate matchday against Dunărea Galaţi, surprisingly. This second match canceled within a season meant according to the rules at the same time the exclusion of the club from the Championship, and thus the initial descent into the League III, although the league had been athletic already assured. On June 7, 2010, Romeo Stavarache, representatives of Partidul Naţional Liberal and successor of Sechelariu in the office of mayor, announced that the local authorities would set the financial support from FCM Bacau from the 2010/11 season. Instead Mesagerul Bacau, the Neuaufsteiger was renamed the League III in ASOCIATIA Sports Club Bacau and equipped by the City Council and the Mayor's Office with the necessary financial resources. These were spent, among other things, to pay players willing to change FCM Bacau for months unpaid salaries. With FC Bacau Willy in August 2010 also had to set nine years after its inception the game operation for lack of sponsors another third division of the city.

Against all the odds to Dumitru Sechelariu decided from July 2010 to a rebuilding of FCM Bacau under the leadership of former coach Gheorghe Poenaru and the new president Daniel Scânteie, a former player of the club. The remaining squad he reinforced. Having two previous performers, Ştefan Apostol and Cornel Codreanu, and a new team bus was purchased and provided with the advertising slogan " FCM Bacau, Echipa ta de suflet " After Pambac Bacau was staying sporty, there was in the Season 1 League III is therefore in the season 2010/ 11, three representatives of the city: FCM Bacau, who fought out their home games at Stadionul Municipal, ASC Bacau with the Letea Stadium as home ground, as well as Aerostar Bacau, which was home Aerostar Stadium. Sechelarius investments were rewarded end of the season, with the rise of the FCM Bacau in the Liga II after the club achieved 23 wins and three draws in 26 games this season and financed by the City Council ASC Bacau with ten points could point distance to second place.
