Filogaso

Filogaso (Greek: Philogassos ) is a Southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1455 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Vibo Valentia in Calabria. The community is located about eleven kilometers east of Vibo Valentia.

History

Unknown is the foundation of the village. Probably a Greek settlement will have been here first, which was soon taken over by the Romans. Coins from the 4th century AD, are of Roman origin to the 2nd century.

In 1909, the church was severely damaged by an earthquake.
