Filadelfia, Calabria

Filadelfia is a small town with 5553 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Vibo Valentia, Calabria region in Italy.

Before the big earthquake in 1783 the town was named Castelmonardo. The earthquake, the city was almost completely destroyed and then rebuilt. Nowadays, you can see sticking out of the ground in ruins in the area.

Filadelfia covers an area of ​​30 km ² and has a population density of about 209 inhabitants / km ².

The neighboring municipalities are Curinga (CZ), Franca Angitola, Jacurso and Polia (CZ).

In Filadelfia composer and music educator Paolo Serrao was born.
