Finnish presidential election, 2006
The presidential election in Finland took place on 15 and 29 January 2006. Since no candidate in the first ballot won an absolute majority, had to be held a runoff.
The previous President Tarja Halonen of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP ) sat down in the ballot just to Sauli Niinistö of the conservative National Coalition Party through.
As the only party represented in Parliament presented the Left Alliance to not have its own candidate but supported the application by Tarja Halonen.
