Fondo
Fondo ( German pounds ) is a village in the upper Val di Non (Italian Val di Non ) in the north of the autonomous province of Trentino with 1422 inhabitants ( as at 31 December 2012). The area of the municipality covers 30 km ².
With Südtirol ( Autonomous Province of Bolzano ) Fondo is connected to the east by the road over the Mendel Pass (1363 m slm ), or via the Passo Palade ( 1518 m slm ) with Merano in the north. Downstream is the capital of the valley, Cles. To the north of Fondo is a part of the valley in German ( Deutschnonsberg ) and is one of South Tyrol.
Tourist is the environment of Fondo a starting point for mountain tours to the Mendola mountain ridge ( 1866 m slm Gantkofel, Penegal 1743 m slm ) and located in the Brenta group, but also in the western Ortler massif.
By 1934, the site was developed by the local railway Dermulo -Mendel with both the Mendel and with Trent on a railway.
Between Fondo and Castelfondo is the pedal Valley. Due to the location of Burrone flows.
