Pomarolo
Pomarolo ( German outdated Pommaröl ) is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2439 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Trento in Trentino -Alto Adige. The municipality is situated approximately 13 kilometers south-southwest of Trent in Vallagarina. The Adige river forms the southeastern boundary of the municipality.
History
The strategic location suggests that the area was already inhabited in Roman antiquity. The former village on the Adige was in 1136 by Lothar III. destroyed. In the meantime occupied by the Republic of Venice, the town was destroyed again in 1508 by Maximilian I..
