Frederick I, Count of Vaudémont

Frederick I of Vaudémont (* 1368, † October 25, 1415 at the Battle of Agincourt ), also known as Ferry I of Lorraine, was Lord of Rumigny ( German Rümmingen, hence Frederick I of Rümmingen ), Martigny, of Aubenton and Boves, by marriage, from 1392 to 1415 also Count of Vaudémont and Lord of Joinville.

Life

Frederick's parents were John I Duke of Lorraine and Sophie von Württemberg. Occasionally appears as Friedrich V. Ferry in the list of the Dukes of Lorraine. Frederick married in 1393 Margaret of Joinville ( 1354-1418 ), daughter of Henry V, Lord of Joinville and Count of Vaudémont, and Marie of Luxembourg. From this marriage, inter alia, the daughter of Elizabeth of Lorraine, and the son of Antoine de Vaudémont emerged.

In 1400 Friedrich fought with his older brother Duke Charles II of Lorraine against the Bishop of Toul. He joined the Bourguignons against the Dukes of Orléans.

In 1409, Friedrich undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He then became an advisor to the French king Charles VI.

Frederick died on October 25, 1415 at the Battle of Agincourt. 1473 was his great-grandson René II, Duke of Lorraine.
