Frederick, Prince of Wales

Friedrich Ludwig, ( born 31 January 1707 in Hannover.. ; † 20 Märzjul / March 31 1751greg in St. James 's Palace ) English Frederick Louis or Frederick Lewis, was the eldest son of George II of Great Britain, and his wife Caroline of Brandenburg- Ansbach.

Life

Friedrich Ludwig moved after the death of his grandfather, King George I of Great Britain, in 1727 as Crown Prince and Prince of Wales to the second place of the British and Hanoverian succession. On the accession of his grandfather as a British King Friedrich Ludwig remained in Germany. Only after the death of his grandfather, his father brought him in 1728 as the new Prince of Wales (Prince of Wales ) to London. As a result, it came between him and his parents to significant differences. The mutual dislike took to the death of the Prince constantly and damaged the reputation of the entire royal family.

The Prince in his youth was engaged for years with Wilhelmina of Prussia, but was later married to Augusta of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg, with whom he lived mostly at his country estate in Kew, together with his children. He was said to be an excellent father, kind, impulsive, generous, who wanted to make it possible all right. Each of his children were educated to maintain a small garden itself and to stay a lot with games and outdoor sports. He was proud to be the first "real" English out of the house of Hanover, and the family had only English be spoken.

Friedrich Ludwig died in 1751, nine years before his father. The cause of death is not known exactly, as it is said in some reports, he had died of pneumonia caused by a tennis tournament. On the other hand, it is said that he died of an abscess, which was exactly where it had taken weeks before a cricket ball. Heir to the throne was his son George III. In the UK, " Prince Frederick " as a patron of the arts remained in memory.
