Frederick Tuta

Friedrich Tuta (* 1269, † August 16, 1291 ) from the House of Wettin was from 1285 Margrave of Landsberg and 1288-1291 Margrave of Lusatia as well as Regent of the Margraviate of Meissen.

Origin and meaning of the epithet " Tuta " are unclear and not communicated; he probably " the Stammerer " means.

Life

Friedrich was born in 1269 as the son of Margrave Dietrich of the Elders of Landsberg. He received his paternal ancestral lands, which he took over in 1285, after the death of Henry the Illustrious 1288 the Margraviate of Lusatia; However, the latter gave him some time the sons of Albert the Degenerate, Frederick the free digestion and Dietrich IV, in dispute. In 1289 he bought a part of Meissen and the territory of Frederick Clem.

Friedrich Tuta died on August 16, 1291 at the age of 22 years at Castle Hirschenstein, poisoned with cherries and without male issue; so the saying to have originated: "With the is best not to tangle ... " He was Buried in White Rock.

Marriage and issue

Frederick is survived by his widow Catherine (who died and was buried in 1303 in Weissenfels ), and a daughter Elizabeth.

His possessions fell to Dietrich IV and his brother Frederick the free-end.
