Friedrich Emich

Friedrich Emich ( born September 5, 1860 in Graz, † January 22, 1940 ) was an Austrian chemist.

Life and work

Emich studied chemistry at the Technical University of Graz, where he also taught from 1887 to 1931 and its rector, he was for a total of three functional periods. His field of work was, together with Fritz Pregl, the micro- chemistry.

Awards

The Association of German Chemists awarded him the Liebig Medal. The Austrian Chemical Society awards named after him Friedrich Emich Plaque. Emich was in 1927 a member of the Leopoldina. In 1931 he was awarded the Grand Decoration of the Republic of Austria. In 1970 ( 22nd District ) was named the Emich street after him in Vienna Danube city. In 1990, a commemorative stamp was spent on his 50th death anniversary of the Austrian Post.
