Gabriel Landeskog

Gabriel Ingemar John Landeskog (* November 23, 1992 in Stockholm) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player. Since October 2011, he plays for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League ( NHL ) on the position of the left winger. NHL Entry Draft 2011, he was selected second overall position and managed to jump directly to the NHL squad of Colorado. After an impressive first season, he was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best Neuprofi ( Rookie ) and appointed little to the team captain of the franchise from Denver later.

Career

Beginnings in Sweden, Ontario Hockey League

Gabriel Landeskog played in his youth time in the hockey department Djurgårdens IF and Djurgården Hockey. From the 2008/ 09 season he came there regularly in the Junior League J20 SuperElit used. In the same season he also completed three games for Djurgårdens professional team in Sweden's highest league, Elitserien, where he scored one assist. When CHL Import Draft 2009 Landeskog was selected by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League in third overall position.
