Gariy Napalkov

Gari Jurjewitsch Napalkow (Russian Гарий Юрьевич Напалков, scientific transliteration Garij Jur'evič Napalkov; * June 27, 1948 in Nizhny Novgorod ) is a former Soviet ski jumper. He jumped for Burevestnik Gorky.

Career

On January 6, 1968, he won the Four Hills Tournament, an individual competition in Innsbruck; in the overall standings he finished sixth. The following winter he won in Oberstdorf, was in the overall standings but only Fifteenth.

The winter of 1969/70 was the most successful of his career. In the Four Hills Tournament, he finished third, and at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Vysoke Tatry he was with victories on the normal and large hill of Strbske Pleso double world champion.

At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 he reached on the normal hill the seventh day, on the large hill in sixth place. A year later at the Ski Flying World Championships 1973 in Oberstdorf, he landed in a single fly on points with Lennart Elimä on the 41st.
