Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007

The German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 took place on 8 March 2007 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. It was live in the First under the title Who sings for Germany? transmitted. It was attended as the year before three performers part.

The nominated participants and their songs were:

Roger Cicero was approximately 70 % ( 630,000 calls) of the votes of 900,000 votes clearly chosen as a winner, 2nd place occupied Monrose with 20% ( 180,000 calls ) of the votes. Last Heinz Rudolf Kunze was 10 % (about 90,000 calls ) of the votes.

Moderated the show by Thomas Hermanns. Guests on the couch were Susanne Fröhlich, Paola, Andrea Kiewel and Georg Uecker. In the broadcast, the German ESC participants Wenche Myhre, Siw Malmkvist and Gitte Hænning, the ESC key winners Bucks Fizz, Katrina Leskanich ( former lead singer of Katrina and the Waves ) and Johnny Logan occurred. It played the St. Pauli Spa Orchestra. Guests of honor were the German ESC participants from 1959 Alice and Ellen Kessler, who also were allowed to announce the winner.

Each of the three candidates sang in the run-up in addition a classic of Euro Vision Song Contest:

  • Heinz Rudolf Kunze: Merci Cherie (Original by Udo Jürgens, 1966, # 1 for Austria )
  • Monrose: wonder there are always (originally by Katja Ebstein, 1970, 3rd place for Germany )
  • Roger Cicero: Two little Italians (Original by Conny Froboess, 1962, No. 6 for Germany )

When Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 in May in Helsinki Roger Cicero took in the final 19th out of 24 participants.
