Giuncugnano

Giuncugnano is an Italian commune in the province of Lucca with 485 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012). The place is located in the upper Garfagnana and part of the National Park Appen Tosco - Emiliano. It is connected to the national road 45 with Aulla and Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.

To place include the fractions Magliano, Ponteccio, Gragna, Varliano and Capoli.

The neighboring community are Casola in Lunigiana, Fivizzano, Minucciano, Piazza al Serchio and Sillano.

History

The fractions Magliano and Ponteccio was first mentioned in a document in the 8th century. In the 14th century it was passed from the dominion of Lucca in the possession of the Este family to which he belonged until the unification of Italy.

In agriculture, mainly cattle and sheep farming plays a part, as there are companies in trade and commerce as well as facilities of tourism.
