Gold ( I) iodide is an inorganic chemical compound of gold from the group of iodides.
Production and representation
Gold ( I) iodide may be obtained by reaction of a solution of potassium iodide Tetrachloridogoldsäure. Also possible is the production by the reaction of gold, and iodine in an inert atmosphere at about 390 ° C.
Properties
Gold (I ) iodide is a yellow crystalline powder, which gradually decomposes on contact with water, humidity or light. It has a tetragonal crystal structure with space group P42/ncm (a = 4.359 Å, c = 13.711 Å).
