Gonzalez is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Escambia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 13,273 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Gonzalez is about 5 km north of Pensacola and is crossed by U.S. Highway 29.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,273 inhabitants distributed to 5,244 households. The population density was 335.2 inh. / Km ². 83.9 % of the population were white, 10.6% African American, 0.9% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 0.4 % were members of other ethnic groups and 2.4% in different ethnic groups. 2.9% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.2 % of all households lived in 37.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 78.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.70 persons and the average family size is 3.04 people.

27.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 12.3% were 20-39 years old, 30.7 % were 40-59 years old and 19.2 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 40 years. 48.4 % of the population were male and 51.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 72,894, while 7.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.28 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.44% and 0.28 % spoke German.
