Myrtle Grove is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Escambia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 15,870 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Myrtle Grove is located about 5 km west of Pensacola. The CDP is from U.S. Highway 90 (SR 10A) and 98 ( SR 30 ) and the Florida State Roads 298 and 727 crosses or touches.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 15,870 inhabitants distributed to 6,955 households. The population density was 928.1 inh. / Km ². 69.0 % of the population were white, 18.4% African American, 0.6 % Native American and 5.1% Asian Americans. 2.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 4.6% of different ethnicities. 6.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 29.2 % of all households lived in 30.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 62.8 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.37 persons and the average family size is 2.94 people.

26.9 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 30.5% were 20-39 years old, 23.8 % were 40-59 years old and 19.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 33 years. 51.7 % of the population were male and 48.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 41,513, while 23.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.81 % of the population spoke Spanish 3.79% and 3.40 % had a different mother tongue.
