The Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (German Grammy Award for Best Remix Recording without classical music ) is a musical prize, a diploma awarded to artists since 1998 for high-quality remixes in the field of contemporary music.

Background and History

The Grammy Awards ( originally Gramophone Awards) are annually since 1959 for artistic performance, lent technical expertise and overall musical performance in various categories of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences ( NARAS ), irrespective of the selling value of the work.

The category of the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical was the first time at the ceremony in 1998 under the name of Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year, Non-Classical (German Grammy Award for Remixer of the year, without awarded classical music ). Winner was then Frankie Knuckles. Up to and including 2001, the remixers have been nominated without a specific work, from 2002 criteria were changed. Since then, the category takes its present name and the nominees are proposed for an edited work. The award is given only to the remixer, not to the original performer of the edited song.

Statistics

Three artists, David Guetta, Skrillex and Jacques Lu Cont, the price could yet win each twice, and so share the record for the most awards. The American Steve Hurley was nominated four times and is the artist with the most nominations. He could win any of the prizes.

With nine winners represent the United States most of the winners, three times the award went to an artist from France. Two winners came from the UK, one award was given to artists from Austria and Italy.
