Griesbach-au-Val

Griesbach -au -Val (Alsatian Grischbe Dal ) is a commune with 746 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district of Colmar, in the canton of Munster and the community association Vallée de Munster.

Geography

Griesbach -au -Val is located on the southern edge of the Vallée de Munster, opposite Gunsbach. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. In the valley of the proportion of agricultural zones is small. In the neighboring village to Gunsbach industry has settled. Other neighboring villages are Eschbach -au -Val, Munster, Wihr -au -Val and Soultzbach- les-Bains.

History

From old documents show that Griesbach -au -Val was called 1239 Grunzensbach. In 1285, the village was under the rule of Hattstatt to 1379 under the Hus and around 1434 of the Rappoltstein. Then the Reformation was carried out.
