Großenaspe

Großenaspe is a municipality in the west of the district Segeberg in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Großenaspe is located about ten kilometers south of Neumünster in a rural environment. To the west runs the Federal Highway 7 from Hamburg to Flensburg. On the outskirts the railway line Hamburg- Altona- Neumünster runs and the breakpoint of the AKN Großenaspe lies in the north.

Free grazing and Brokenlande lie in the municipality.

History

Großenaspe in 1343 first mentioned. The name probably derives from the aspen tree.

1860 a frost was found during plowing, which consists of a metal alloy of gold and silver and is made hollow. It dates from the Bronze Age and is known as Eidring, although he was not used, contrary to earlier assumptions for this purpose. Today it is located in the National Museum in Schloss Gottorp and is depicted in the coat of arms.

The site was also known by the construction of the octagonal St. Catherine's Church, which was given in 1772 by the Russian Empress Catherine II commissioned and named after her.

Policy

Of the 17 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections in 2013 nine seats, the SPD and the voter community BfB have three each and the FDP two seats.
