Guðrið Hansdóttir

Guðrið Hansdóttir [ gu ː ː rɪ hansdœt ɪr ] ( born October 6, 1980 in Tórshavn, Faroe than Guðrið Hansen ) is a Faroese singer ( singer-songwriter, rock, folk ), which was crowned there in late 2007 Singer of the Year.

Life

Guðrið is the daughter of Louisa and Hans Carl Hansen. Her father is in the Faroe Islands, a well-known guitarist who played in local bands like Straight Ahead and Streingjasúpan. The Faroese name Hansdóttir she has adopted 2007 as an artist for the first name of the father (Hans ' daughter).

Guðrið Hansdóttir is a trained teacher at the University of Iceland teacher.

Guðrið writes her own songs and sings in English and Faroese. Their songs are about unrequited love, the life, the weather and the solitude on the isolated islands and stormy. Clothing default in the 80s remembers their music to Jethro Tull and Kate Bush. Other influences are The Cardigans, Kent, The Carpenters and Jeff Buckley.

Her debut was in 2005 at the Prix Føroyar as a singer and guitarist of the reggae band pH 5.5. After dissolving the band she founded in January 2006, the rock band Isadora & The Rebels, and appears as a guest vocalist on Petur Polson coma album ( under the name Guðrið Hansen). Since January 2007, she plays under his own name as a solo artist. The debut album Love Is Dead was released in 2007 and was long in Faroese charts. In 2006 and 2007 she appeared on the G each! Festival and the Summer Festival in Klaksvík. In 2008, she was at the Spot Festival in Århus, Denmark.

2013 she founded together with Janus Rasmussen from the Icelandic- Faroese band Blood Group the electropop duo Byrta [ bɪʃta ]. Their songs are entirely in the Faroese language.
