Gymnastics at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's balance beam

The finals on balance beam of women in the 2012 Olympics in London was held on 7 August 2012 at The O ₂. A total of eight gymnasts competed.

In the qualifying competition on 29 July 2012, eight gymnasts have qualified for the finals. The regulations stipulated that only two gymnasts per NOC could compete in the final. A third qualifier was not allowed to compete and was replaced by the gymnast who had cut off as the next best. The American Kyla Ross 6th place qualifying had to give way accordingly. For them, the Romanian Diana Bulimar should step in, but which, however, had to cancel because of an injury.

The rating of an exercise consisted of difficulty (D -score) and the execution (E -score), which were added to the total score and subtracted from the possible penalty points. If two gymnasts have the same total score, the higher rating is the execution of the rash.

Final result

Alexandra Raismans difficulty was first set to 6,200. Raismans coach protested against the too low heading. The protest was upheld, and the difficulty level increases by 0.1 to 6.300. Now Raisman had the same point total as the Romanian Ponor. Raismans higher rating in the execution was the decisive factor for winning the bronze medal.
