Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms (Unicode block)

The Unicode block half-width and full-width forms (English Half Width and Full Width Forms, U FF00 to U FFEF ) contains full-width Latin characters and numbers, and half-width katakana characters and Hangul Jamo, which are used in East Asian character sets. Half-width characters are only as wide as a capital letter, thought full-width characters as wide as a Han ideograph and for use as single letters or characters in East Asian text or individual words in vertical text. The full-width characters originally came from one -byte character sets.
