The Hamburg International GmbH & Co. KG, in the outer appearance shortly Hamburg International, was a German charter airline based in Hamburg.

History

Hamburg International was founded in the summer of 1998 as a private, independent airline. Until March 1999, he intensive preparation phase, so that the first Boeing 737 delivered in April 1999 and the regular flights could start as scheduled.

From 2003 to 2006 Hamburg International took on regular flights from Zurich to Pristina in Kosovo as " Designated Carrier of Kosovo ". One of the aircraft was fitted with a common color dress from Hamburg International and Kosova Airlines, a brand of the tour operator Eurokoha travel.

Since the beginning of 2008 were gradually replaced the older Boeing 737 aircraft with new Airbus A319.

With delivery of the first A319 (D - AHIH ), which was presented in January 2008 with its maiden flight from Finkenwerder Airport via the airports Saarbrücken, Friedrichshafen and Munich to Hamburg, Hamburg International also introduced a revised color scheme. The fourth Airbus delivered, D- AHIK is provided with a dark blue special livery for the 10th company anniversary.

At the airport Friedrichshafen Hamburg International is building a hangar, there to open in 2010 his own technique base and to integrate the maintenance of the aircraft into the company. Maintenance is up to that carried out by Lufthansa Technik, the education and training of the pilots by Lufthansa Flight Training.

On 20 October 2010 it was announced that insolvency proceedings on 19 October 2010 was opened on Hamburg International Hamburg District Court, as well as the closure of the base was announced at Weeze airport. On October 20, the Federal Aviation Authority also set the operating license and the Air Operator Certificate of the Company, which thus may not perform more flights until further notice. Planned compounds would be covered by other companies.

On 6 December 2010 it was announced that a portion of the existing shareholders will transfer with the help of new investment partner Hamburg International in the newly established airline Hamburg Airways. This finally received on 28 March 2011 its operating license by the Federal Aviation Authority.

Objectives

Hamburg International led by charter and special flights. The main target group were tourists and guest workers who flew with their families in their home. Were served this most classic routes from Germany and Central Europe in Mediterranean and northern European holiday regions. Most of the flights were carried out exclusively in the full charter for German and European tour operators without direct seat sale by Hamburg International. Other business of Hamburg were internationally the 'ethnic charter flights ", single, military and ad-hoc charter flights.
