Hannover Re SE is a reinsurance company based in Hanover and is a subsidiary of Talanx AG. It has its origins in the joint-stock company founded in 1966 for transport and reinsurance ( ATR) and is one of the three largest reinsurers worldwide.

Hannover Re, with a gross premium of around EUR 14 billion, is one of the leading reinsurance groups in the world. It transacts all lines of non- life and life and has a network of subsidiaries and associated companies, branches and representative offices on all five continents, with approximately 2,400 employees. The Germany - business of the Group is carried out by the subsidiary E S Re.
