Harvey Glance

Harvey Glance ( born March 28, 1957 in Phenix City, Alabama) is an American track and field athlete, who in the late 1970s and in the 1980s more than 100 meters successfully.

Career

Harvey Glance won five gold medals as a member of the 4 x 100 - meter relay:

  • At the XXI. Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 - in a single race over 100 meters in 10.19 s, he came in fourth place
  • At the Pan American Games in 1979 in San Juan, where he was also his only individual medal - silver in the 100 meters in 10.19 s after the Cuban Silvio Leonard in 10.13 s - won,
  • At the IAAF World Cup in 1985 in Canberra
  • At the Pan American Games 1987 in Indianapolis
  • At the 1987 World Championships in Rome.

In 1976, he ran the 100 meters twice in 9.9 s and thus equaled the world record.

As a student of Auburn University, he won three NCAA championships: 1976 in the 100 and 200 meters (10.16 s and 20.74 s ) and 1977 in the 100 meters ( 10.22 s ). In the AAU championships he could not win a title. In 1979 he was runner-up in 10.15 s and 10.04 s in 1986 in third.

After ending his playing career, he became head coach at the University of Auburn (until 1997) and Alabama.
