HC Vitkovice Steel is a Czech ice hockey club from Ostrava, the Czech Republic's top division, the O2 Extraliga belongs.

History

1928 Hockey Club was founded in Moravian Ostrava Vitkovice district. The first notable success was the SSK Vitkovice in 1934 by winning the Moravian and Slovak Championship. In 1936 the club was a founding member of top Czechoslovak league. The first season concluded from Vitkovice in fifth and had the honor to compete in the first game of the new league. 1943 followed, even as ČSK Vitkovice, the first descent of the back in the Bundesliga in 1949 under the name ZSJ Vítkovické Zelezarny. After two second places in 1952 the team won the Czechoslovak league titles. After several seasons in the midfield the team in 1960 got off from the top division. While followed by the immediate re- climb, but after only four years of the next descent. Only in 1973 returned Vitkovice back to the first league. After a few placements in mid-table succeeded Vitkovice in 1981 to become the Czechoslovak Hockey champion for the second time in club history. After the main players had left the club, Vitkovice rose from 1985. The return to the top league succeeded in 1988. Middle of the 1990s was one of the HC Vitkovice the tip of the Czech Extraliga, 1997, the team was runner-up in 1998 of third parties. This season is set with David Moravec also the top scorer in the league. In the game year 1999/2000 the team rescued only in the relegation against the winner of the first Dukla Jihlava League before the descent. In the following years the team was able to place most of the front in the final table.

The HC Vitkovice Steel plays its home games in the ČEZ Aréna in Zábřeh district, which has 9,568 seats. It is the former Culture and Sports Palace which served as a multi-purpose arena since its construction in 1986.
