Heinrich Knote

Heinrich knot (* November 26, 1870 in Munich, † January 12, 1953 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) was royal Bavarian Chamber Singers and Richard Wagner heroic tenor. His debut as a singer he gave in 1892 in Munich, and he soon became the Wagner tenor. From 1904 to 1908 he gave guest performances in London and also was a member of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. At that time he was considered a great rival of Enrico Caruso.

His career ended Heinrich knot in 1931 in Munich. Knot is still regarded as one of the best German heroic tenors, particularly in relation to his famous roles as Siegfried and as Tannhäuser. In the Bavarian State Opera in Munich him hangs in honor of a portrait.

He is buried at the cemetery in Feldafing. In Munich - Solln the Knotestraße 1945 was named after him.
