Henichesk

Henitschesk (Ukrainian Генічеськ; Russian Геническ / Genichesk ) is located on the Azov Sea, about 177 kilometers south of the Oblasthauptstadt Kherson, a town in the southern Ukrainian Kherson Oblast. It lies at the northern end of the Tauride strait.

It was founded in 1784 and was called until 1837, in which she raised to town the year, " Genitsch " (Russian - Генич ) was or Henitsch (Ukrainian - Геніч ). The inhabitants were primarily concerned with the salt extraction from the many lakes in the area, also had the place nor the function of a port.
