Henry VI the Older

Henry VI. of Glogau (also Henry VI " the Elder ."; * before 1345, † December 5, 1393 ) was from 1369 to 1378 ( with his brothers ) sole Duke of Sagan ( Ducal ) Glogau and from 1378 Duke of Sagan and Crossen. He was a vassal of the crown of Bohemia and came to the Silesian Piast branch of Glogau.

Life

His parents were Henry V " the Iron " († 1369 ) and Anna († 1363), daughter of the Duke of Waclaw Płock. In 1372 he married Hedwig († 1409 ), daughter of Duke Wenceslas I of Legnica

When his father's death in 1369, Henry V, Henry VI were. the Elder. and his younger brothers Henry VII " Rampold " and Henry VIII " sparrow " not yet of age. Therefore, they were placed under the guardianship of the Duke of Legnica Ruprecht I, who in 1372 married her widowed sister Hedwig time already. The resulting inheritance disputes of Legnica Duke Ludwig played a mediating role.
