Houston-Marathon
The Houston Marathon (official name Chevron Houston Marathon to the main sponsor, the Chevron Corporation) is a marathon in Houston (Texas), held annually since 1972. The organizer is the Houston Marathon Committee. The first two issues were each held in December, since 1975, the marathon starts in January. Because of this postponement of the Houston Marathon in 1974 did not take place.
During the event, a half marathon and a 5 km fun run are offered.
Route
The flat circular route starts in front of the Minute Maid Park in the immediate vicinity of the George R. Brown Convention Center. After an eight -kilometer-long arc towards the north, the route leads first in a southwesterly direction past the Hermann Park and Rice University continue to the famous shopping center, The Galleria, and from there back to the finish at the George R.
