Illkirch-Graffenstaden

Illkirch- Graffenstaden ( German Illkirch- Grafenstaden ) is a French town with 26,467 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It is located in the arrondissement of Strasbourg- Campagne and is the capital (French: chef- lieu) of its own canton.

Illkirch- Graffenstaden situated on the Ill River and the Canal du Rhone au Rhin ( German: Rhine -Rhône channel). It is the third largest city in the Urban Community of Strasbourg ( CUS) and the fourth largest in the department of Bas- Rhin. In Illkirch Lixenbuhl the line ends A of the Strasbourg tram. Graffenstaden is located on the railway line between Strasbourg- Colmar -Mulhouse and is served by the regional transport company TER Alsace with some compounds.

History

Illkirch is most likely a town founded by Franconian, without that you could specify the founding date exactly.
