Incline elevator

An inclined plane is generally a passenger and freight elevator with an inclined roadway, set up to overcome a height distance. The term is used differently in technical and legal terms:

  • According to the European standards ( European standard for inclined elevators - prEN 81-22 ) is the inclined elevator is a special case of the elevator, the guide rails are both related to the vertical to the horizontal as well as inclined more than 15 °; he is also subject to the Lifts Directive (Directive 95/16/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 June 1995 on the approximation of the laws of Member States relating to lifts );
  • In technical terms, the funicular is a funicular railway with only one car.;
  • Other lifts with different security requirements and use purposes, etc. (eg, the construction and furniture lifts, boat lifts ), stair lifts ) as previously inclined elevator beyond.

Legal definition

Legally speaking, is the essential difference between the lift and shape of the funicular shape of the inclined lift in each applicable directive:

  • An elevator (also inclined elevator ) is used by the Lifts Directive (Directive 95/16/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 June 1995 on the approximation of the laws of Member States relating to lifts ) to buildings and structures permanently to use.
  • A funicular railway (also inclined elevator ) is used according to the cable car (Directive 2000/9/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 March 2000 relating to cableway installations designed to carry persons ), public passenger transport.

The user is often hard to see whether he had seen legally drives with an ( oblique ) elevator or by a funicular railway. In common parlance, further remains of the inclined elevator outside the building a special form of funicular. This is especially true for historical funicular railways.

Technology

Certain types facilitate the ligand Use standing by the slope change is by means of level controls that keep the floor is always horizontal, balanced. Here, the ground while driving is adjusted electrically or hydraulically - or the car travels on two staggered rails, so that by the position of the wheels the horizontal tilt of the cabin is also maintained over changes in slope (see Minifunic ).

In order to keep the power requirements of these systems as low as possible a counterweight is used for inclined elevators usually. The arrangement of the drive can be both above as well as below.
