Infanta Maria Francisca of Portugal

Maria Francisca of Portugal, full name Maria Francisca de Assis da Maternidade Xavier de Paula de Alcántara Antónia Joaquina Gonzaga Carlota Mónica Senhorinha Soter e Caia de Bragança ( born April 22, 1800 Queluz, † September 4, 1834 in Gosport ) was a Infanta of Portugal and Infanta of Spain by marriage and Countess of Molina.

Life

Maria Francisca was the third daughter of King John VI. of Portugal (1767-1826) and his wife Infanta Charlotte Johanna (1775-1830), eldest daughter of the Spanish king Charles IV and Princess Maria Louise of Bourbon -Parma.

On September 22, 1816 married Infanta Maria Francisca Madrid Carlos María Isidro her uncle Benito de Borbon y Borbon -Parma ( 1788-1855 ), Infante of Spain and Count of Molina, second son of the Spanish king Charles IV and his wife Princess Maria Louise of Bourbon -Parma. The marriage produced three sons were born:

  • Carlos (v. ) Luis María Fernando ( 1818-1861 ), Count of Montemolín
  • Juan (III ) Carlos Maria Isidro ( 1822-1887 ), Count of Montizón
  • Ferdinand de Borbón (1824-1861), unmarried

Infanta Maria Francisca died in the English Gasport and was buried in the Catholic church. After her untimely death, her husband married in 1838 Infanta Maria Theresa her older sister de Bragança ( 1793-1874 ). Their marriage remained childless.
