Isaac D. Barnard

Isaac Dutton Barnard ( born July 18, 1791 in Aston Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, † February 28, 1834 in West Chester, Pennsylvania ) is an American politician ( Democratic- Republican), of the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate represented.

Isaac Barnard lived as a child with his parents on a farm near Chester, where he attended the public schools. After he had spent some time in Philadelphia, he returned in 1811 to Chester back. His law studies he had to interrupt because of its use in the British -American War. At first he was captain and later major of the 14th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army.

After he had received and completed his studies, he was admitted to the bar in 1816 and commenced practice in West Chester. Between 1817 and 1821 he was Deputy Attorney General of Chester County. In 1820 he moved into the Senate of Pennsylvania, where he remained until 1826; This year, he was Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Finally Barnard in 1826 elected to the U.S. Senate. However, that he belonged to only 4 March 1827 to his resignation on December 6, 1831; During this time he served as Chairman of the Committee on Militia. Already in February 1834, died Isaac Barnard in West Chester.
