Işık Koşaner

Sebahattin Işık Koşaner ( born December 5, 1945 in Devrek, Zonguldak Province ) was a Turkish general and Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Koşaner graduated in 1965 the " Military School for ground forces, " and the following year the " Infantry School ". In 1974 he was involved as a commander of a special unit in the occupation of Cyprus. By 1976, he was with the army in various capacities working and graduated from the Military Academy in 1978 and worked as a staff officer in the General Staff. The promotion to brigadier-general took place in 1992. Followed promotions to major general and lieutenant general. In 2004 he was four- star general and commander of the Aegean Army.

On 30 April 2008 Koşaner was appointed army chief. He was since August 8, 2010, the 27th Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. On 29 July 2011 Koşaner joined together with the entire army leadership back because of disagreements with the Erdoğan government from his post. His successor is Necdet Özel.

Koşaner is married to Nurdan Koşaner and has two children with her.
