Islam Slimani

Islam Slimani (Arabic إسلام سليماني, DMG Islām Sulaimani, born June 18, 1988 in Algiers ) is an Algerian football player who is currently under contract with Sporting Lisbon.

Career

Association

After Slimani had scored in the 2008/ 09 season for JSM Chéraga in 20 league games a total of 18 goals, he moved on May 17, 2009 for a transfer fee of 800,000 Algerian dinars to CR Belouizdad, where he signed a two -year contract. Also for Belouizdad he was successful in subsequent seasons as top scorer. On the day exactly two years after his move, he scored in the 7-1 victory over JS Kabylie four hits. In July 2011 he extended his contract for another two years, though several French clubs were interested in Slimani. Towards the end of the season 2012/ 13, pointing more and more to an AC Slimanis to Europe. After he had this desire expressed concretely in July 2013, his release was initially denied. However, he was later released only a few weeks by the arbitral tribunal for disputes on the basis of failure to salary payments from his contract with CR Belouizdad. Shortly thereafter, he went to lead negotiations with FC Nantes, France. On August 8, he signed but ultimately a contract with Sporting Lisbon, which dates to 2017 and was valued with a buy-out clause of 30 million euros.

National

In October 2009, Slimani was invited for a one-week training camp in the Algerian A ' National Team in Algiers. On 9 March 2010 he was nominated by coach Abdelhak Benchikha for the qualifier against Libya in the African Nations Cup 2011. He was re-nominated for his injured teammate Youcef Saïbi to replace. However, he did not play, Algeria won the game 1-0.

12 May 2012 Slimani was first nominated for the senior team, namely for the qualifying matches for the Football World Cup 2014 against Rwanda and Mali, as well as for the qualifier as part of the Africa Cup of 2013 against Gambia. His international debut, he completed on 26 May as a substitute in a friendly against Niger. In both World Cup qualifiers Slimani was once each successful against Gambia he even scored twice. He also took part in the African Cup of Nations 2013, Algeria. In this tournament, however, he managed not to score.
