István Nyers

István Nyers [ iʃtva ː n ɲɛrʃ ] ( born May 25, 1924 in Merle Bach (now Freyming -Merlebach, Moselle ), France, † March 9, 2005 in Subotica, Vojvodina, Serbia) was a Hungarian football player. Though he only played two international games for the Hungarian national football team, he is considered one of the greatest football legends of his country.

Nyers was born in France, the son of a Hungarian immigrant family. The highlight of his career, he peaked in the 1940s and 1950s.

After he had advanced at Újpest Budapest in the Hungarian first league team regular and won in 1945 and 1946, the Hungarian Championship, he joined Viktoria Zizkov 1946 (Czechoslovakia) to the French first division club Stade Français Paris.

After two years in Paris, the Italian top-flight club Inter Milan began recruiting him. Here he developed into one of the strongest striker in the history of Serie A. In his first season he was with 26 goals scorer in the league. In 182 games for Inter he scored 133 goals. Twice, in 1952/53 and 1953 /54, he was with Inter Italian masters.

After winning the second championship left Nyers Milan and moved over Servette Geneva for AS Roma. He remained there two years and then left his career at unterklassigen Italian clubs finish.

Nyers lived several years in Milan and then moved to Subotica, where he died on 9 March 2005 at the age of 80 years.

The Scorers 1898-1923 are not known.
