Ituzaingó Department

The department Ituzaingó located in the north of the province of Corrientes in the north- eastern Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

To the north it borders, separated by the Río Paraná, Paraguay, on the east by the province of Misiones, on the south by the departments of Santo Tomé, San Martín and Mercedes and to the west by the departments of Concepción and San Miguel.

The capital of the department of the same name is Ituzaingó Ituzaingó near the Río Paraná and the hydroelectric plant Yacyretá.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 30,565 inhabitants ( 2001) 42,662 inhabitants in 2005.
