Ivan Švarný

Ivan Svarny ( born October 30, 1984 in Nitra, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey player who is under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Kontinental Hockey League since August 2013.

Career

Ivan Svarny began his career as a hockey player with the Belleville Bulls, for by 2004 he was active from 2002 in the Canadian top junior league Ontario Hockey League. Then the defender played during his first stop in professional hockey in the 2004/05 season for the New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League. From 2005 to 2007 he ran after his return to Europe for the HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga. The 2007/08 season he began the HC Ocelari Třinec from the Czech Extraliga. This he left already during his first season and played the following three and a half years for his league rivals HC Litvinov. For the 2011/12 season he was bound by the HC Slovan Bratislava, with whom he won the Slovak Championship title at first attempt.

For the 2012/13 season Slovan Bratislava was included in the Continental Hockey League in which Svarny immediately earned a starting berth. Before the following season Svarny took part in the training camp of the KHL Freshman KHL Medveščak Zagreb and received the end of August 2013 a contract after Kyle Klubertanz had seriously injured.

Internationally

For Slovakia Svarny participated in the 2009 World Cup. During the tournament he was point and impunity in three games.
