Jánovce
Jánovce ( 1927-1973 Slovak was " Janovce "; German Johann ( e) sdorf, Hungarian Szepesjánosfalva - to 1892 Jánóc ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia in Poprad in the historic landscape Zips. The municipality is located on the southwestern edge of the Levočské Hills ( Levočské mountains).
It consists of the main town Jánovce (Johann ( e) sdorf, first detection in 1312 ) and the 1964 eingemeindeten place Machalovce (Mach Sindelsdorf first detection in 1260, already finds from the Neolithic period ). In the place Machalovce the community Čenčice was incorporated ( Zunkensdorf, first proof 1209) again after 1913.
The parish was in the Middle Ages part of the special county the "Ten Zipser spearmen ", later a direct component of the Zips. In the 19th century there were many emigrants from the community.
In the village is a Roman Catholic church is the Baroque style of the 13th century.
