Jaulny

Jaulny is a commune with 251 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

Jaulny lies in the valley of the left- Moselle tributary Rupt de Mad, about 15 kilometers northwest of Pont-à- Mousson, in direct proximity to the canton capital Thiaucourt - Regniéville. The LGV Est européenne line of Lorraine to Paris crossed the river valley between Jaulny and Thiaucourt on the highest bridge in the distance. The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

The Jaulny are vassals of the Duke of Lorraine, while the Armoises serve the Count or Duke of Bar. The two families share the rule (French Seigneurie ) Jaulny: the castle and two-thirds of the property include the Jaulny family, one third of Armoises family.

1504 occurs Thierry Armoises of his rights to the Duke of Lorraine. 1587 dies the last representative of Jaulny family, Ferry III. de Jaulny, in Basel. The Armoises inherit the rule and take over the castle as a family residence.

1624-1668 Jaulny experienced its heyday under the Armoises Jean and Dorothée de d' Urre Thessière, Seigneurs of Jaulny and COMMERCY. You follow the Armoises 1668-1677 Louis and Marie -Claude de Haraucourt, daughter of " Christian Amazone " Alberte -Barbe de Saint- Baslemont.
