Jean Paul Vuillemin

Jean Paul Vuillemin ( born February 13, 1861 in Docelles, † June 29, 1932 in Malzéville ) was a French mycologist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Vuill. "

Vuillemin studied medicine at the University of Nancy, where he became in 1884 a doctorate to the Dr. med. From 1895 to 1932 he was professor of natural history at the medical faculty of the University of Nancy. After Vuillemin several clans have been nominated by fungi, the genus of beef Sprenger ( Vuilleminia ).

Vuillemin has described the genera of Jochpilze Spinalia and Zygorhynchus. Already in 1889 he also has first formulated the concept of antibiosis, which was taken up by Selman Abraham Waksman 1942 with its introduction of the term antibiotic.

Vuillemin was elected corresponding member of the Académie des sciences ( Botanical Section) 1913.
